Scottish Quaichs – Some Background Information
Perhaps you are looking for some Scottish Gift ideas or would like to know a little more about our range of handmade Scottish quaichs.
Here are some answers to common questions asked by our customers.
Are your Quaichs Made In Scotland?
All of our quaichs are designed and made in Scotland by one of the country’s leading pewter craft workshops.
All of our quaichs have ‘Made in Scotland’ embossed on the base.
You will also see hallmarks or ‘touch marks’ as they are known in the pewter trade.
The touchmarks at the base are a mark of the Pewter’s authenticity.
The first symbol is the touch mark of the ABPC (Association of British Pewter Craftsmen)
The middle symbol (the seahorse) is the quality touch mark of the Worshipful Company of Pewterers.
The third symbol is the manufacturers own touch mark.
How Much Do the Quaichs Weigh?
You may be thinking why would I want to know that?
Well some cheaper quaichs can be a touch on the light side. Our quaichs weigh in at about 180gms. For their size they are comfortable to hold and have a nice ‘weighty’ feeling without being too heavy or overly light.
I’ve Bought A Quaich – What Can I Expect In The Post?
All of our quaichs are supplied in a lined presentation box with an information card.
The presentation itself is further protected by an outer white cardboard sleeve.
Are The Outer Sides Of Your Quaichs Decorated or Plain?
The outer sides of our quaichs are decorated with a traditional Celtic Interleave pattern.
