Title: Scottish Quaich - Luckenbooth - "Of Earthly Joys..."
Material: Pewter
Size (approx): 85mm (internal diameter). 130mm including handles.
Origin: Handmade in Scotland
The luckenbooth is similar to the Claddagh with the purpose of being a love token. Lord Darnley is said to have given Mary Queen of Scots a luckenbooth brooch with entwined hearts as a symbol of love and devotion.
The luckenbooth was originally used on brooches. Earliest records date back to the early 16th Century.
Our Luckenbooth Quaich features the traditional entwined hearts (a symbol of love) with a crown (a symbol of loyalty). The outer edge is decorated with a traditional Celtic Interlace pattern embelished with Scottish thistles. An inscrpition "Of Earthly joys Thou Art My Choice" runs around the middle.
A personal gift idea for someone special i your life and occasions such as anniversaries, weddings, and christenings.
